West Valley Middle School is once again sponsoring a tree in this year’s Fantasy of Trees.  As you may know, all proceeds from the Fantasy of Trees benefit Children’s Hospital.  This year, our WVMS Elves are in charge of decorating the tree are asking parents, teachers, and students for monetary donations to purchase ribbon, decorations, ornaments, tree topper, lights, etc…  Donations should be brought to the office on or before November 9th.

 Knox County Health Dept. is offering Flu Mist free on November 1, 2018.  No student will be vaccinated without a completed, signed and returned form. 2018 Basketball Season Passes go on sale October 15th.  Adult pass is $30.00, Senior/Veteran pass is $20.00 and Student pass is $10.00.  You can purchase passes from the basketball coaches or from the office.

6th Grade Party Information

We are almost to the end of the school year and to celebrate PTSA is throwing a party for our 6th graders.  In order to make the party a success we need volunteers to supervise each station while the students are outside.  The 6th grade coordinators will be facilitating all games and competitions.  We also need a few supplies/prizes for the party so please sign up to send something in.  All donations need to be turned in no later than Tuesday, May 16th.   Please arrive at 12:25 to give yourself enough time to check in and get to your station.

It’s hard to believe but it’s almost the end of the school year! To celebrate we will be having a 7th grade party and we need your help to make it a smashing success! WVMS Lip Sync Battle

Attention all West Valley Students!!

West Valley is having its first ever Lip Sync Battle on May 11th!  If you are interested in participating, please pick up an entry form from Mrs. Wells starting Monday, April 2nd.  Forms will need to be returned by April 12th. Auditions will be held on April 13th, and all participants will be required to have their group’s costume, song, and act prepared by then. There will be also be a required dress rehearsal on May 4th.  More information will be available soon.

WVMS Lip Sync Battle

Attention all West Valley Students!!

West Valley is having its first ever Lip Sync Battle on May 11th!  If you are interested in participating, please pick up an entry form from Mrs. Wells starting Monday, April 2nd.  Forms will need to be returned by April 12th. Auditions will be held on April 13th, and all participants will be required to have their group’s costume, song, and act prepared by then. There will be also be a required dress rehearsal on May 4th.  More information will be available soon.

8th Grade End of Year Celebration

The 8th Grade End of Year Celebration will take place on

Wednesday, May 23rd from 6pm-8:15pm.

This year the celebration will be dinner and a show (provided by the comedy team of Bean and Bailey).

All students who attend must have a signed permission slip(turned in to homeroom teacher) Found HERE.

To help cover the costs of entertainment and dinner, the PTSA is asking for monetary donations. If you and your family are able to help, please visit the Sign Up Genius Site.

Volleyball Tryouts

Volleyball tryouts will be Monday, April 23rd and Tuesday, April  24th  from 3:45 – 6 PM in the gym.  You must be able to overhand serve on a consistent basis.  Please click on the link below for more information and tryout forms.

Parents can look at the “Quick Link” section on the right hand side of the school webpage and click on Teacher Voicemail Extensions to see a list of teachers and their extensions. Then when calling West Valley can press 9 and follow the instructions to leave a voicemail for their student’s teacher.

Help Keep the WVMS Office Germ Free

As you can imagine, it takes a lot of cleaning to keep the WVMS front office germ free. If you and your family are able, the office staff would greatly appreciate any hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, Kleenex, computer screen cleaner, and paper towel donations. Thank you!

Partnering with WVMS

School of Rock is offering summer camps and wants to give back to WVMS!

When WVMS families register for summer camps using a special code, School of Rock will give a percentage of the enrollment back to our school!

when enrolling to save $5 and donate $10 from your enrollment ($20 for Rock Camps to WVMS)

“Heading to High School” Night 

8th Grade Parents, don’t miss our “Heading to High School” night and the opportunity to ask current high school parents about the next four years. 6th and 7th Grade Parents who are curious about the transition to high school are also welcome to attend. The meeting will be held in the WVMS Library.

Treats for Troops is a yearlong Student Council project that’s aimed at providing treats for those that serve our country.

If you are able to donate any non-meltable snacks please send them into school after each break (Fall, Holiday, and Spring) and the Student Council will make sure that are passed along to our troops.

Note: It takes 2 weeks for items to reach the base and they need to be donated in boxes.

Examples of treats: Goldfish, peanut butter crackers, beef jerky, energy bars, gum, mints

Rising 9th Grader Dates

Bearden High School

March 5 – The ninth grade counselor available at West Valley during lunch to answer parent and student questions about the upcoming 9th grade registration. She will be located in the WVMS Media Center.

March 5 – 6:00-8:00 p.m. 8th grade parent night at the Bearden High School Auditorium.

March 6 – Registration sheets are due to WVMS and forms will be delivered to Bearden High School.

West High School

April 3 – 5:30-6:30 p.m. is the rising 9th grade parent meeting in the West High School auditorium.

Due date for the registration sheets will be shared once WVMS receives it and the forms will be delivered to West High School.

Farragut High School

March 5 – 5:30-6:30 p.m. are parent meetings for students with IEPs.

March 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. is the rising 9th grade parent meeting in the Farragut High School Auditorium.

March 7 Rising 9th Grade Small Group Meetings:

Last names A-M = 5:00 – 6:00

Last names N-Z = 6:00 – 7:00
