BATTLE OF THE GRADES
NOVEMBER 1 – 20th
8TH GRADE – PAY IT FORWARD
Show that you are the leaders of the school. You have benefitted all 3 years from the Foundation and consider it a good investment.
Why the 8th Grade will win? The Class of 2023 wants to cement their legacy.
7TH GRADE – BASEMENT DWELLERS NO MORE!
Show how much you love your school (and want to ensure your middle school maintains the 1:1 technology ratio)
Why the 7th Grade will win? The Class of 2024 was 2nd place last year.
6TH GRADE – FIGURING OUT THIS MIDDLE SCHOOL THING
You figured out your locker combination and where all your classes are.
You are no longer Rocky Hill, Bluegrass, Northshore or AL Lotts, you are WOLVES.
Why the 6th Grade will win? The Class of 2025 is so sweet and adorable.

New Spirit Wear
New Spirit Wear items! Perfect for Christmas presents. We are doing order forms this year so there will not be a lot of back stock for last minute orders. You can print off the order form or pick up a paper copy in the office. Orders are due Nov 12th. This will be the last time this year Spirit Wear will be offered so don’t miss out on these awesome new items. Don’t forget to indicate how you want to pick up your items: homeroom or office. Cash or check made out to WVMS PTSA.
Fantasy of Trees
West Valley Middle School is once again sponsoring a tree in this year’s Fantasy of Trees. As you may know, all proceeds from the Fantasy of Trees benefit Children’s Hospital. This year, our WVMS Elves are in charge of decorating the tree are asking parents, teachers, and students for monetary donations to purchase ribbon, decorations, ornaments, tree topper, lights, etc…
Donations should be brought to the office on or before November 9th.
West Valley Middle School is proud to participate in the National PTA® Reflections program and has had several students recognized by County, Tennessee and National PTAs.
The 2018-2019 National PTA® Reflections theme is: “Heroes Around Me”

***8th Grade Baby Pictures for the Yearbook need to be submitted by Friday, December 14. Any picture submitted after this time will not be accepted. Please email pictures to email@example.com.
Be sure to purchase your yearbook recognition ad! These ads are in the back of the yearbook and are designed to celebrate your student’s success during their middle school years. Please visit https://www.jostens.com to build and purchase your ad. The deadline to purchase a yearbook ad is Friday, December 14***
It’s time to order yearbooks! There are two ways to order, online or directly through the school. For online orders, please visit: https://www.jostens.com . You can follow the simple prompts to get to the West Valley Middle School Knoxville TN page (NOTE: There is a West Valley Middle in San Jose, California, too). If you plan to order through the school please find the order form link below that you can download and fill out and send to the school with your child. The cost for a basic yearbook is $55. Please make checks payable to JOSTENS. Remember, as in years past, we will NOT be ordering extra yearbooks. Please reserve yours today!
BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS
Tryouts for WVMS Boy’s Soccer will be December 10th, 2018 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Bearden High School. Please use the link to fill out a form for tryout. All players will need a form for streamlining registration, communication and updates.

A great big thank you to everyone who sent in boxtops! Our next drive begins now. You may send your boxtops in a Ziplock, 50/bag to the front office or to your student’s homeroom teacher. Please submit by February 1st.

Parents can look at the “Quick Link” section on the right hand side of the school webpage and click on Teacher Voicemail Extensions to see a list of teachers and their extensions. Then when calling West Valley can press 9 and follow the instructions to leave a voicemail for their student’s teacher.
