Jason Jablonski Peanut Butter Drive to benefit Second Harvest food bank February 1-12, 2016
For the fourth consecutive year, all participating schools will have the first two full weeks of February to collect peanut butter, pennies, or dollars for the 2016 project. After the rush of the holidays, February is a slow month for Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. They really depend on PTA schools to help feed families at this “down time” of year. Barrels have been placed at the entrances of the school. Please bring your items and place them in the barrels over the next couple weeks. This annual February project began as the “Project Heart Cart” peanut butter drive many years ago in honor of PTA Founders Day and Valentine’s Day. It has become much more meaningful now that it is known as an annual memorial project in honor of Jim and Diane Jablonski’s son, Jason. The Jablonski Family has supported PTA and Second Harvest in Farragut and Knox County for many years. As many may know Diane passed away this past November. We are hoping to support this Peanut Butter Drive in a big way this year to show our support for the family and all they have given to our school! Diane helped form the West Valley PTSA and was the very first member. She would be so honored to know her family’s legacy was living large at our school. Let’s show the Jablonski’s and Second Harvest some LOVE this Valentine season.
Second Harvest accepts monetary donations. To convert donated dollars into food pounds simply multiply the total dollars collected by 3.6 (ex. $100 donated is equal to 360 pounds of food).
